Lifeline Sydney and Sutherland, operated by Wesley Mission, cares for people seeking help in crisis.
That’s why Lifeline supports people in the Sydney and Sutherland area in challenging times – from isolation and anxiety to suicidal thoughts and domestic violence. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and are always there during people’s darkest moments.

Together, a qualified professional and lived experience volunteer facilitate monthly group discussions with people grieving loss by suicide.
It’s a safe space to talk about what’s happened with people who understand, while being supported through the grieving process.
Fundraising events help us do what we do at Lifeline. We partner with corporates and organisations to run annual events like the Great Hall Bookfair, Push-Up Challenge and Out of the Shadows Walk.
We also raise funds by hosting Bunnings BBQs, market stalls and other events with local small businesses. Look out for our events to show your support.
In June, our Community is taking part in The Push-Up Challenge.
We are going to help shine the spotlight on the number of lives lost to suicide in 2022 and raise awareness of mental health.
You can create a team in this Community, join a team or support someone who is taking part. Help us push for better mental health.

Lifeline’s story began in Sydney’s Sutherland region. In 1963, the late Reverand Dr Sir Alan Walker received a phone call from a man in deep distress. Sadly, that man later took his own life. Moved by this tragedy, Sir Walker set out to make sure no one else had to face their darkest moments alone. So he launched the world’s first 24-hour crisis support line.
What started as a local service has become one of Australia’s most trusted support networks. Today, 13 11 14 answers over a million calls each year from people in crisis.
Lifeline Sydney and Sutherland remains at the heart of that mission. We're still here – still listening, still helping. Our centre is home to a small team of 13 staff and more than 250 trained crisis supporters, backed by a community of volunteers who come together for local events.
We’re here to ensure no one faces a crisis alone. Whether it's over the phone, online, face to face or by text, our team is here to connect with people in whatever way they feel safest.
